Matheus enjoyed the puzzle of managing teams for several years, so the next tick up on the pain-o-meter was to go back to the trenches to build a distributed query engine for FloeDB. Distributed systems give him what he needs: clocks, network partitions, failures and a reliable supply of humility every day. Outside of work, he's a former olympic-distance triathlete who now accelerates a SQL query engine because his knees refuse to accelerate anything else.
